About the Club

Oxford Jitsu Club
Oxford Jitsu Club

Oxford Jitsu Club is a brand new club, established in 2011 by James Dunn and senior grades from the Oxford University Jitsu Club. Subsiquently the club merged with Oxford Brookes Jitsu Club and is now under the instruction of Nat Lockyer and Mary Bishop. As a new club we have a great learning atmosphere where everybody has the opportunity to progress quickly.

Most club members joined with no prior martial arts experience and come from a wide range of backgrounds, with a good mix of men and women. The club has a friendly atmosphere on and off the mat – in fact a trip to the pub after the session is considered an almost essential part of training!

Oxford Jitsu Club is part of the Thames Valley Region, which currently has four university Jitsu clubs and one other town club. The region boasts some excellent instructors and jitsuka, and regional training events are held at least every three months, with club visits from senior instructors from across the country held frequently. Find out about other clubs in the region here.

If you're curious about Jitsu the best thing to do is come along - all are welcome to come to our regular Monday or Thursday training sessions.
