February 2008
For those of you who have been invited to attend the grading, the transport arrangements are exactly the same as last week - see the entry below if you need to check the details.
The grading costs £15. You will need to bring your licence, and water/snacks.
Good luck!
News added 23 February 2008
For the pregrading, please be at the train station by 11am to buy your ticket.
There are a couple trains you can get that will get you there on time - they leave about the same time, but one takes twice as long as the other. Look out for the one that *doesn't* stop at a half a dozen stations between here and Reading!
Once you get to Reading, get the number 63 bus, and get off at Bulmershe Court (on Woodlands Avenue). You can also get the 65, but this goes 'the long way round' and takes about 45 minutes rather than 20.
Once you get there, go to the gymnasium. People who've been to Bulmershe before will know where it is - it's the same place all the Bulmershe courses are in.
Have fun and good luck!

January 2008
Hey folks!
There will be a group leaving from the sports centre at 10:30am. If you gave Tim your name last session then there's a space for you in the car. If you didn't, it's not too late to come! But you'll have to get a train. Which train/bus to get is as for the regional listed below, though with different times - nationalrail.co.uk will be able to tell you which train to catch.
Have fun - it'll be a good one!

December 2007
Hey everyone,
I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to join you at the regional as I'm still(!) ill, but for those of you going, the plan is to meet at the station at 10am, and go from there. The location is the same as the pregrading, so if you follow the directions below (under November 2007 - 'Pregrading! How to get there.'), you'll find your way there. Bear in mind buses and trains run more frequently on aturdays, hence the later start!
Have fun, and see you on Sunday!

November 2007
We will continue to train at our normal times up to and including Sunday 9th December, after which we are planning to have some sort of Christmas dinner at a nearby pub - more on that later via the mailing list! Then we stop training for Christmas and New year. Our first session back is Wednesday 9th January.

Please meet at the dojo at 9am tomorrow.

For those of you who have been invited to the pregrading, here is how to get there!
I'm afraid it's an early start, folks - due to rail replacement services and long connections extending the journey time somewhat. You'll need to get the first 'train' of the day, by which I mean a rail replacement bus. This leaves Oxford at 7:45am. I would suggest that everyone meets at about 7:25am to make sure you've all got tickets sorted out.
So, the details of the trip are as follows:
*7:45am depart Oxford on rail replacement bus to Didcot Parkway.
*8:20am depart Didcot Parkway on train to Reading.
*8:47am arrive Reading
*9:45am depart Reading train station on number 63 bus to Bulmershe court (follow signs to buses outside train station)
*10am arrive Bulmershe Court (on Woodlands Avenue), find the gymnasium (see map at http://www.oxfordjitsu.co.uk/bulmershemap.pdf - I recommend you print this and take it with you), put out mats, get changed
*11am pregrading starts
NB: You can also get the number 65 bus to Bulmershe Court from the station, departing at 9:15am. However, this goes 'the long way round' and will also arrive at Bulmershe Court at approximately 10am.
On the way home, you can get the 65 or the 63 bus back. The 65 is quicker in this case.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to give me an email at suzannah.merchant@keble.ox.ac.uk, and good luck!

The Thames Valley Uber-course is happening this Sunday. It's a combo of first aid, AI-I-CI, and Nage No Kata. It's open to green and above. If you want to attend, meet at the sports centre at 8am on Sunday morning, where you will find Mary ready to take you there! Remember, the clocks go back this weekend, so it will feel like 9am! Make sure you bring food and drink with you; there'll be breaks at various points in the day so you can keep topped up on fuel. :)
